It's Official: Ricky Gervais Will Host the 2012 Golden Globes

Though Ricky Gervais was criticized for targeting big-name celebrities with blunt one-liners during last year's Golden Globes, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is turning to the British comedian once more.

Though Ricky Gervais was criticized for targeting big-name celebrities with blunt one-liners during last year's Golden Globes, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is turning to the British comedian once more. The organization has officially confirmed Gervais will host the 2012 Golden Globes. Gervais, who has hosted the show twice before, has made such topics as Scientology and Robert Downey Jr.'s stints in rehab the punchlines of his jokes. Gervais's unpredictability definitely makes me want to tune into the broadcast to see whether or not he'll behave or revert to his straightforward zingers. Will you tune in to watch Gervais host the show?

Do You Want to See Ricky Gervais Host the Globes Again?

At the 2011 Golden Globes, host Ricky Gervais performed an opening stand-up routine that made waves, but it may have not been the kiss of death for the British comedian.

At the 2011 Golden Globes, host Ricky Gervais performed an opening stand-up routine that made waves, but it may have not been the kiss of death for the British comedian. According to Page Six, he was spotted having dinner with some bigwigs from NBC and the Hollywood Foreign Press, which could only mean one thing: Ricky Gervais may host the Golden Globes again. After the story was released, Gervais tweeted: "Ooooooh! The plot thickens..." but has yet to make an official statement on whether or not the hosting rumors are true.

I love Gervais's brand of controversial humor and would love to see him play host for a third time, but I'm curious on your thoughts. Were you a fan of Gervais' hosting style? Do you want to him see him host again this year?

Curb Your Enthusiasm returns this Summer and in this behind-the-scenes look at the new season, we get a peek at what Larry David's been up to. He's following up the Seinfeld reunion by bringing the whole show across the country to NYC. The change in scenery means a fresh crop of guest stars including Rosie O'Donnell, Michael J. Fox, and a currently cameo-happy Ricky Gervais. Red Sox fans should also be ready to open up some old wounds, since Bill Buckner makes an appearance. The crew will stay on the East Coast for a number of episodes, but don't worry, he'll be back up to his antics in LA during the season as well. Some of you are ready to see Curb Your Enthusiasm canceled, but perhaps this pret-ty pret-ty funny preview will change your mind. Check it out and let us know what you think!

The Office Doubles Up on Funny Guys: Will Arnett and Ricky Gervais!

The Office may be losing Steve Carell in a matter of weeks, but the comedy certainly won't be hurting for funny guys to fill in the gap.

The Office may be losing Steve Carell in a matter of weeks, but the comedy certainly won't be hurting for funny guys to fill in the gap. We already knew that Will Ferrell will show up later this season, and now the show runners have lined up Ricky Gervais and Will Arnett to appear in the season finale (Gervais has already made a cameo on the show earlier this season). I assume that Gervais will once again be playing David Brent (manager of the UK version of the show), but no word yet on who Arnett will be playing. One thing we do know is that the star power may not end there, as producers are trying to pack even more guests into the one-hour closing ceremonies. Do you think these guys will add some spice to Dunder-Mifflin? And who else would you like to see stop by?

BuzzWorthy Video: Ricky Gervais Visits The Office!

Well, this is a delight!

Well, this is a delight! As we previously reported, Ricky Gervais David Brent does indeed stop by The Office this week for a meet-cute with Michael Scott in the show's cold open. Naturally, the two men get along swimmingly in the scene, thanks to their shared appreciation for all things politically incorrect and "that's what she said" jokes. Then, in a little wink to the audience, David asks Michael if Dunder Mifflin has any jobs available. Hear that Steve Carell? We found your replacement! Just watch.

Ricky Gervais's Golden Globes Opening — Hilarious or Too Harsh?

Ricky Gervais opened the Golden Globes with a little stand-up routine.

Ricky Gervais opened the Golden Globes with a little stand-up routine. As expected, no one was safe from his brutal honesty: he trashed Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp's The Tourist, made cracks about Hugh Hefner, and even poked fun at Lost's Hurley's weight. The British comedian certainly didn't hold back, and his opening act included a jab at Scientology. Gervais surely left some audience members bemused and others offended, but what did you think of his opening — hilarious or too harsh?
