We've seen mothers and daughters swap places (Freaky Friday), fathers and sons (Like Father Like Son). We've seen Tom Hanks play a 30-year-old with a mind of a kid (Big) and Rob Schneider as a man trapped in the body of a high school girl (The Hot Chick). Apparently Hollywood still hasn't tired of pulling the old switcheroo and the next actors to do it are Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman.
The guys have signed on for David Dobkin's The Change-Up, focusing on a grounded family man (Bateman) who trades lives and bodies with his slacker best friend (Reynolds). Sounds like a par for the course comedy for Bateman, whereas this may give Reynolds a chance to take a break from playing the dreamy love interest he usually embodies in big screen comedy. I know the premise has been done to death, but I'd be lying if I said the story still isn't rife for a few chuckles, especially since I love both Reynolds and Bateman. Besides, more than once I've thought about how interesting it would be if I had to do one of my friends' jobs for a day (admit it— you've got friends with jobs you don't entirely understand). But I digress: are you on board with another big screen out-of-body experience?
As if the Oscars weren't exhausting enough, celebrities then headed out to let loose at the afterparties. From the legendary Vanity Fair bash, to Elton John's AIDS fundraiser and the official Governor's Ball, there were tons of amazing photos from the festivities. We've rounded up 15 of our favourites, so click through to see highlights from Hollywood's biggest night!
The Oscar afterparty fun kicked off in LA last night with Vanity Fair's Post-Oscar Bash! The Sunset Towers hosted celebs who attended the show, as well as those who didn't, like Victoria Beckham, Abbie Cornish and Jessica Simpson, who chatted with Heidi Klum. Sandra Bullock clutched her Academy Award, as her The Blind Side costar Quinton Aaron posed with Rachel McAdams. Kathryn Bigelow and Jeremy Renner looked thrilled to bring out their The Hurt Locker gold and fellow winner Jeff Bridges smiled alongside fellow Crazy Heart actor Maggie Gyllenhaal. Cameron Diaz changed out of her red carpet dress and into something shorter as she chatted with Jason Segel, while elsewhere Sean Penn shared a drink with Kid Rock.
Kristen Stewart, meanwhile, chatted away alongside Anjelica Huston, as Inglourious Basterds' Eli Roth cuddled up to his new lady, Peaches Geldof. Rachel McAdams' ex Josh Lucas gave some bunny ears to Sam Worthington and Carey Mulligan, while happy couples like Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens and Russell Brand and Katy Perry only had eyes for each other. Natalie Portman stopped to say hi to her Black Swan costar Mila Kunis' boyfriend Macaulay Culkin, following his touching tribute to John Hughes. Lovely ladies like Kate Beckinsale and Anna Kendrick kept the fashionable times going, as the VF bash got a long night of partying in LA under way.

US studio CBS Films is working on a big screen adaptation of Gunsmoke and the studio is looking for its leading man. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the TV show, it's a drama about the old west (specifically: Dodge City) , which ran for 20 years from 1955 to 1975. The part in question? Lawman Marshall Matt Dillon, originally played by James Arness. Sadly, Matt Dillon the actor isn't on the short list of desired talent, but Brad Pitt and Ryan Reynolds are being considered.
Dillon's character is described as a peacemaker in the midst of local vagrants and hoodlums, who has the town doctor and local bar mistress as his sidekicks. Naturally, Brad's performance in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford proves he's got the chops to do a Western, but Reynolds is also on fire right now as an up and coming leading man. Pitt seems better suited for a grittier role, though I'd love to see Reynolds continue his hot streak of eclectic projects. Who gets your vote?
As
Buried made it's debut at
Sundance, comes word that the film is
the festival's first movie to be bought for major release! I'd already heard a ton of buzz about the film, but my curiosity peaked when I heard the exciting news. So did it live up to the hype? Let's review.
- Who's behind it? The film's directed by Rodrigo Cortés, with Ryan Reynolds as the one and only actor in the film.
- What's it about? Paul Conroy (Reynolds) wakes up to find himself trapped in a wooden coffin, buried alive after being taken hostage in Iraq. With only a lighter as a guide and a mobile phone as his only connection to the outside world, Conroy has roughly 90 minutes to assess his situation and attempt to contact someone, anyone, that can help him escape.
Did I develop claustrophobia? Keep reading to find out.

It was a snowy weekend in Park City, Utah where the
Sundance Film Festival got underway. As well as our
thoughts and reviews of the many movies being screened, we'll also covering all the festival's biggest events. From Ben Affleck to lots of Kristen Stewart, Josh Radnor, Ryan Reynolds and more—here are some of the biggest highlights from the first few days of the festival, with lots more to come!
Earlier this week, I noted Buried as one of the top 10 Sundance movies I'm excited about, so I was happy to see that a teaser for the film arrived online today. The video may only be 45 seconds, but it's definitely enough to get a taste of what we're in for—goosebumps, a little claustrophobia and a whole lot of nightmares.
In the clip, Paul Conroy (Reynolds) is bloody and pleading for help into his cell phone. A truck driver from Michigan, Paul has found himself in a nightmare realised: he's been buried alive in Iraq and must find a way to come up with $US1 million ransom or he'll be left for dead. To say the film looks stressful would be the understatement of the year, but I'm ready to buckle down and see what Reynolds can do.

Serena van Der Woodsen has been kind of bugging me lately, so I'm happy to report that soon we'll get a chance to see her alter ego somewhere besides NYC. Blake Lively is set to star opposite Ryan Reynolds in the highly anticipated Green Lantern.
Lively will play Carol Ferris, who hires the test pilot (and secret Green Lantern persona) Hal Jordan for her father's aerospace company. In the comic, the two embark on a romance, but things get complicated when she is handpicked by an alien race and turns into a supervillain, pitting her against the Green Lantern.
Ferris is described as having her MBA and rumours mentioned everyone from Keri Russell to Diane Kruger to Jennifer Garner for the role. I'm surprised to see the younger Lively beat out these women for the part, but I think she'll make for a good damsel in distress if the script calls for it. Plus, I'm sure Lively wouldn't be shy about slipping into a spandex suit.
Do you think Lively is a good choice for the film? Will she and Ryan Reynolds make a good onscreen couple?
