Jennifer Lawrence visited The Late Show in NYC yesterday. The Silver Linings Playbook Golden Globes winner spoke about her controversial "I beat Meryl!" line, which is actually a quote from The First Wives Club, and spoke about her introduction to acting as a child. Turns out, Jennifer got practice with her craft by lying.
Katie Holmes covered up a hot pink dress with a coat as she arrived at the Late Show in NYC last night. She posed for photos and waved to fans before heading inside to chat with David Letterman. It's been an exciting week for Katie, who celebrated her 34th birthday at a lolly shop with daughter Suri and later performed in Dead Accounts. Katie was all smiles as she emerged after her evening on Broadway and even stopped to sign autographs for the waiting crowd. Katie will soon be celebrating Christmas, but she may be doing so without Suri. Tom Cruise recently revealed that all three of his kids, including Suri, will be with him for Christmas, saying, "We have got lots of very special things planned. We are all going to be together. I am looking forward to it."
Channing Tatum arrived at the Late Show studios in NYC on Wednesday afternoon. He arrived in a casual shirt, and later exited decked out in a suit ready to sign autographs for fans. Channing's on the East Coast making a final promotional push before his latest feature, Magic Mike, hits cinemas on July 26. The film loosely tells the tale of his young days as a stripper.
Channing chatted with David Letterman about the movie, his dancing, and working with Matthew McConaughey. Dave coaxed Channing into doing his best Matthew McConaughey impression, which included Matthew's catch phrase, "Alright, alright, alright." Matthew and Channing struck up a friendship while shooting the Steven Soderbergh-directed film and even visited a New Orleans male strip club together.
Robert Pattinson was on The Late Show With David Letterman in NYC last night to chat about Breaking Dawn Part 1 and much more. Ryan recalled that at the ceremony, his fellow nominee, the legendary actor Peter O'Toole, actually put the moves on his sister. Brotherly love made Ryan a little defensive — check out the story below!
During and following the months of Charlie Sheen’s meltdown, his Two and a Half Men co-star Jon Cryer hardly spoke out about the topic. He did respond when Charlie called him a “troll,” but even then his appearance on Conan O’Brien’s show in March was mostly humorous and didn’t focus on Charlie’s issues. On Wednesday night Jon taped an interview with David Letterman on The Late Show, where the topic of Charlie was inevitably brought up. Jon explained how nobody on the show was prepared for Charlie’s actions, especially since the whole situation was unprecedented, but added, “I love him, he’s a great friend.” When David said, “He called you names — he called you a troll,” Jon replied, “As friends do.” (You’ve gotta admire how he’s handled this whole situation.) He also spoke about how quickly the Ashton Kutcher casting came about and what Ashton loves about private planes. Check it out!
Memo to all talk show hosts: keep your notes away from Lady Gaga and don’t accuse her of lying! It’s something David Letterman learned the hard way after he asked the star about whether she ate Barbie dolls’ heads during her concerts. When she said, “Yes, all the time,” he responded with, “No, that’s not true,” which led Lady Gaga to snatch his notes, rip them up, and put some papaer in her mouth! It’s her first time on The Late Show and it ties in with the release of her album Born This Way, which came out yesterday in Australia.
Irina Shayk, a model known for being Cristiano Ronaldo's other half, has been selected for the cover of this year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She's front and centre in the annual edition, an honour that last year went to the lovely Brooklyn Decker.
The cover was unveiled on The Late Show after the ten models who are featured inside made an appearance and explained what being in the annual swimsuit issue meant (watch the vid to see what I mean). Irina is the first Russian model to land the coveted spot and she also poses for a lengthy shoot inside the magazine, along with many other two-piece-wearing girls — check out Sports Illustrated for even more!
Natalie Portman waved to fans yesterday at The Late Show's studios in NYC. The actress is out and about promoting Black Swan ahead of its US release next week, and she spoke with David Letterman about the diet and exercise regimen she had to endure to play a ballerina. Natalie confessed to losing 20 pounds for the role, which was quite a bit for the 5' 3" star and prompted director Darren Aronofsky to tell her to eat more—check out an excerpt from her video below. She's hanging out in the Big Apple prepping for her film's premiere on Monday, but Natalie's also had time to focus on her favourite cause by joining Jake Gyllenhaal last week at a gala for the microfinance organisation FINCA.

Jake Gyllenhaal suited up last night to stop by The Late Show's studios in NYC. He's out and about doing a final promotional push before his Love and Other Drugs hits US cinemas next week (we have to wait until next year). He and co-star Anne Hathaway have been busy with fancy premieres and low-key Q&A sessions, and even appear on the latest Entertainment Weekly in the buff. Jake opened up to David Letterman all about their chemistry, saying, "I've had a pretty illustrious career at this point, but the hardest thing has been pretending to be turned on by Anne Hathaway. And I pride myself on really having pulled it off." Check out a clip of Jake and David below!
