It's been a week full of celebrity news, with a few new couples stepping out, one established pair announcing their pregnancy, and one recently-split couple having a public reunion. In amongst all the news, other celebrity favourites kept busy around the world — Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom took their son and dog for a walk in New York, Kristen Stewart and Rose Byrne were among many taking in the haute couture in Paris and Jennifer Hawkins returned to Australia to launch the latest season of Australia's Next Top Model. There was plenty more — click through to check it all out!
Rachel Gilbert is pregnant! The Australian designer is expecting her first child with husband Tom Williams, who revealed the news live on TV today while co-hosting Channel Seven’s new afternoon show The Daily Edition. The announcement happened during a segment with visiting British psychic Sally Morgan (she was Princess Diana’s psychic for four years), who said Tom and Rachel had a baby on the way. An emotional Tom confirmed the news, saying, “There is. She’s 12 weeks pregnant. I was going to tell you on Friday.” He went on, “We’ve been trying for a while. These guys all have babies . . . and I felt really left out, and I thought I really need to fit in with this bunch.” He said he and Rachel, who were married in November last year, have known for a few weeks. Congratulations to Tom and Rachel!
Future Music Festival hit Sydney and Melbourne over the weekend. At the Sydney event on Saturday, Aussie stars were out in force at Randwick Racecourse to watch headlining act Avicii, as well as Fun., Psy, Rita Ora, Bloc Party, The Temper Trap, Azealia Banks and more, from the ‘First Class’ deck, which offered great views of the two main stages. Home and Away star Samara Weaving attended with a few of her friends, while her co-star Rhiannon Fish had her favourite musician, boyfriend Reece Mastin, and sister Miranda for company. Channel [V] VJs Danny Clayton, Marty Smiley and Carissa Walford mixed work and play as they had to get in front of the camera for some presenting duties. Other TV personalities who made the rounds include Isabelle Cornish, Hugh Sheridan, Montana Cox, Tom Williams and The Loop co-hosts Ash London and Scott Tweedie.

Georgia May Jagger looked radiant in a silver sass & bide dress at the launch of Sunglass Hut’s pop-up floating store on Sydney Harbour last night. Despite the event being held at night time, the visiting model, whose parents are Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall, accessorised her look with a few pairs of sunnies. When we sat down with her earlier in the day she told us her preferred style was “mirrored aviators. And I like all the new coloured ones. Usually I just have the silver ones.” As Sunglass Hut’s global ambassador she’s also trying to expand her collection and added, “I’m getting more into the funky [styles]. And I like round glasses on my face.”
VIP guests at the launch included TV, fashion and media personalities, who were treated to a six-minute fireworks display. Georgia arrived in Sydney last Thursday with her boyfriend, model and musician Josh McLellan, and when she didn’t have press duties she managed to see Bondi Beach, visit the aquarium and climb the Harbour Bridge. Fans and shoppers will also have a chance to see Georgia when she makes a one-hour appearance at the floating store at Darling Harbour tonight from 6 p.m.
Tony Gilroy, the writer and director of The Bourne Legacy (out Aug. 16), described his new leading man Jeremy Renner to us as “really badass and really tough,” and those traits were on display at last night’s Sydney premiere when Jeremy arrived on a motorbike! The actor joined some other riders during a pre-premiere stunt show in front of the State Theatre before meeting fans who had lined the streets to get a glimpse of him. He described his entrance as “cool. That was quite fun, wasn’t it? I had a good time.” The private actor, who takes over the Bourne franchise from Matt Damon and recently starred in The Avengers and Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol, doesn’t know what to make of his new status as a leading man and said, “I’m not quite sure what that means, to be honest with you. I’m fortunate to have a job. I like to work. That’s all I know about that.”
Jeremy also couldn’t pinpoint just one rewarding thing about doing the movie: “Look at the cast, look at the director we have, it’s great writing. It’s the most fun I had on two feet in a very long time. What’s not to love every day? It’s a great challenge and there’s something very gratifying about overcoming those challenges.” And despite his tough guy exterior, director Tony revealed that he was surprised about Jeremy’s “sweetness” when they were working together: “There’s a sweetness also that we needed to the character, there’s a nimbleness and flexibility about him . . . I was very surprised to see how much of that was there.” As for what Jeremy wants to do when he finally gets a break? “Sleep in my bed.”
Television personality Tom Williams asked girlfriend designer Rachel Gilbert to marry him last night! According to reports, the pair went to dinner last night at their favourite restaurant, Buzo in Woollahra, Sydney, where Tom popped the question. Dating since early 2011, Tom and Rachel initially met at the Cleo Bachelor of the Year party and have been together ever since. Tom confirmed their newly engaged status on Twitter, saying "Its true! @RachelGilbertau and I are getting married. We are both thrilled and overwhelmed by all our family and friends love and support." Congratulations to the happy couple!
The Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival kicked off last night at Sydney’s Town Hall to bring the best of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week to the masses. Stars who graced the front row at RAFW in May, such as Kate Waterhouse and Erin McNaught, showed their support for Aussie fashion once again by attending last night. Kate and Erin, who showed off lighter hair and enjoyed the festivities with boyfriend Nathan Jolliffe of The Amazing Race Australia, took to Twitter to praise Peter Morrissey’s runway return, his first since buying back his company. Tom Williams also had a date night out with new girlfriend Rachel Gilbert, who usually experiences fashion shows from behind the scenes.
Love appears to have blossomed between presenter Tom Williams and fashion designer Rachel Gilbert! According to the Daily Telegraph, the two met at the Cleo Bachelor of the Year party in April and have been quietly dating since. Following his split from long-term girlfriend Kylie Speer in September last year, Tom was linked to PR consultant Kristi Townley, who used to date Daniel MacPherson.
Other stars who are enjoying a new romance are 90210’s AnnaLynne McCord and former Prison Break actor Dominic Purcell, who will appear together onscreen in Officer Down. Despite having an 18-year age gap (she’s 23, he’s 41), the couple appeared loved-up during one of AnnaLynne’s filming breaks on a beach in LA on Tuesday. AnnaLynne, who celebrates her birthday tomorrow, was previously in an on-off relationship with Twilight hunk Kellan Lutz.
Last night Olympic swimmer Eamon Sullivan was crowned CLEO Bachelor of the Year! From more than 1 million votes, Eamon was the top pick of the 50 finalists, and aside from picking up the title he also took home a brand new Nissan Micra. The announcement came at the end of a fun-filled black tie event held at the Ivy Ballroom, hosted by CLEO magazine with the always-entertaining Sophie Monk as MC. The Bachelor nominees looked great in their tuxedos while the ladies took the opportunity to frock up in glamorous gowns of the mini or floor-length variety. And the festivities didn’t stop at the announcement — the good times kicked on with an after party at the Ivy’s VIP Den.
Last night Sydney was the lucky city chosen to host the big world premiere of Thor! Events Cinemas on George St was taken over by a long red carpet, which was walked by Thor stars Jaimie Alexander, Tom Hiddleston, director Kenneth Branagh and man of the moment Chris Hemsworth, who was excited that he got to premiere his first major blockbuster in his home country. As they made their way along the press line, Jaimie — who looked stunning in a Mirco Giovannini dress — told us a bit more about her character, Sif, saying she’s like Thor’s “right-hand man” (except she’s a woman!) and that she lost 20 pounds for the very physical role. Tom said he loved playing a villain, while Chris had nothing but praise for the big names he shares the screen with, such as Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman, who unfortunately couldn’t make it out to the Sydney event. The premiere was also like a Home and Away reunion, with many former and current cast members showing their support for Chris’ big Hollywood moment.
