Dakota Fanning smiled for fans before joining Kristen Stewart yesterday at the NYC press junket for their film The Runaways. While Kristen was content to talk about new friends and Joan Jett's racy words of wisdom on guitar playing, Dakota was more interested in sharing about her career and how she prepped for the role of Cherie Currie. Between playing with her many gold bracelets and laughing with Kristen, Dakota said:
- On her friendship with Kristen: "I didn’t know that it would be so hard to talk about when your friend is right here! I can’t do it, I don’t know why!"
- On overcoming insecurities: "I think we all have our insecurities. I mean, for Cherie onstage, she’s a completely different person than she was offstage. And still to this day, she’s kept that vulnerability and that innocence. I don’t really know exactly what her insecurities are, but I think we all have them and that’s something you have to figure out for yourself. I don’t know if I have any advice, though, that will help anyone with their insecurities because I have some of my own."
- On her career goals: I just want to keep doing what I love to do. I don’t know that I have anywhere specifically where I want to take my career. It’s just what I love. It’s the only thing I know how to do—it’s the only thing that I feel like I’m okay at. I just want to keep going. I hope that people continue to want me to be in their movies and to bring stories like this to life. "

Breaking Dawn, Oscar nominee? That sounds like the goal Summit has for Twilight's final, show-stopping chapter—the studio is reportedly eyeing a few Academy Award-nominated directors to take on Breaking Dawn. On the short list: Sofia Coppola, Gus Van Sant and Bill Condon. New Moon's Chris Weitz may not be the studio's first choice (though he had distinctive ideas for the film), but I'm all atwitter thinking about what a talented helmer could do with the sometimes-outrageous book (which is said to be two movies).
Allow me then, to imagine, with my tongue firmly in my cheek, what Breaking Dawn could be like with five very well known, very distinctive directors.
- Quentin Tarantino: The already-violent birth scene would become several times more graphic, with more blood than Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2 combined. The script would be altered to fit in upwards of fifty F-bombs. Obviously, the rating would ratchet up to an R immediately.
- Tim Burton: The dark material would suit the director just fine, while the visuals would become trippy and the colours saturated. Johnny Depp would play Renesmee.

Kristen Stewart was up early yesterday for the press junket for The Runaways. She was still in her tight leather pants while we caught up with her and Dakota, and both girls touched on how close they got to their real-life counterparts Joan Jett and Cherie Currie. Kristen also chatted a little about working with the friends she's grown close to on set and also shared a racy tip that Joan gave her on really connecting with her guitar. She said:
- On Joan's advice for the guitar: "She was always telling me to connect like it’s coming through you. And considering your guitar is like right here (points to midsection), it really is a weird centre—like—the only way I can describe it, and I’ve said it before—she literally sort of told me. . . Why am I doing this right now? . . . The only way I can describe it, and the way she told me to play like her, and it's the only way that feels right is like, ‘You have to f-ck your guitar.’ I didn't know how else to say that, I’m sorry!"
- On working with friends: "It’s a weird thing. It’s rare that you get to work with your friends and it’s rare that you meet your friends—well, you make a lot of friends on set too."
- On Cherie and Joan's friendship and that notorious kissing scene: "It was such a unique friendship and they rely on each other so strongly. You add a kiss to something and suddenly it’s like, “Oh. My. God. They love each other and they are lesbians!” Like, what?! We got to see them interact now and seeing them together was really helpful. They turn into the same people they were back when they hung out all the time. So it’s cool, they still really love each other. It’s hard to describe—they’re just really close. They’re really close and they kissed one night."
Read on to hear what Kristen has to say about Joan, getting her story right, overcoming insecurities and more on the guitar.

Robert Pattinson has spoken before about his desire to "do gigs again" and now he's revealed he hopes to make an album this year. As well as talking about confidence and Pierce Brosnan, Robert also told Parade:
"I kind of want to do one [an album] at the end of the year. All my friends are recording albums and I'm very annoyed about it. But I can't do two things at once. I don't know how people like Jennifer Lopez can act and also sing. I'm just like, 'I can't.' But, hopefully, I'll find some time to get it together."
After Eclipse is released, Rob should have some time to lay down tracks. I'd love to know what you think, so vote to tell me: are you interested in Rob's music career?
Last week's release of the trailer for Eclipse, the next movie in the Twilight saga, was only partially satisfying. The quick preview really only focused on the love triangle of Bella, Edward and Jacob, but it left me wondering when we would see the Cullens and the army of newborn vampires, not to mention all that action we've been hearing about for months.
Luckily, the New Moon DVD has a special treat: Eclipse footage! There are clips of the film, including action sequences, our beloved Cullen family, plus interviews with the cast about the central war and new director David Slade. To see the new footage, just keep reading.

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning kept the celebrations going as they went from their big LA premiere of The Runaways to the afterparty at the Cabana Club. Taylor Lautner stopped to sign a few autographs for fans before joining the girls, while Kristen changed into something more comfortable. Joan Jett kept the girls laughing in the VIP section, after Dakota and Kristen had done a long day of press for their movie. A kiss between Kristen and Dakota has lots of people interested in the film, but for Kristen, it was no big deal. "It was cool. I didn't mind it," she said. "The way that it happens in the script is so just a sort of moment in time and fun and natural and sort of impulsive."
