The competition is slowly heating up on American Idol, and last night the ladies gave it their all for a chance to grab one of those coveted spots in the top 12. While some of the ladies like Didi stepped up to the plate, others like Katelyn and Paige may have put themselves on the chopping block. Time to recap and make your own predictions for who will be sent packing on Thursday night.

Thanks to this week's switcheroo, last night it was the ladies' turn to take the stage after the guys gave it their all on Wednesday. Unfortunately, the ladies were met with mixed reviews from the judges—lots of pitch problems, poor song choices and identity crises. It wasn't all bad though, so let's recap what went down.

Friday night American Idol claimed its first four victims, giving the boot to Janell Wheeler, Ashley Rodriguez, Joe Munoz and Tyler Grady. I wasn't surprised that Ashley and Tyler got the boot considering their so-so performances, but I think Janell and Joe may have deserved a second shot. Either way, I'm glad that some of the fat is trimmed and we can start getting into the heart of the competition. So tell me—which eliminated contestant will you miss the most?

Ellen DeGeneres is apparently doing good things for American Idol's ratings this season, but there are already rumours of trouble behind the scenes. This week's top 12 men and top 12 women performances didn't exactly blow us out of the water, either. Now, there are stories that Ellen is feuding with Simon Cowell and InTouch Weekly claims that her backstage list of "diva demands" is getting out of control. According to the magazine, Ellen requested a Mercedes as a signing bonus and insisted girlfriend Portia de Rossi be a guest judge among other things. Ellen has a great reputation, but there's always lots of drama at American Idol. So tell us, do you believe the rumours of diva behavior and trouble from Ellen on AI?
After a lackluster round of performances from the ladies, last night it was the guys' turn to take the American Idol stage. For better or for worse, they definitely mixed it up more than the girls did, but overall it's going to be a few weeks before the contestants really start bringing it. Read on to see what I thought and weigh in on who you think will be going home this week.
