Kanye West had the honour of opening last night's BET Awards in LA with a performance of his new song "Power." Joining Kanye were some of music's most famous faces, including a fresh-from-NYC Alicia Keys. Alicia was one of the evening's big winners with two statues for Best Female R&B Artist and Best Collaboration with "Empire State of Mind." Alicia took the stage to sing, but she covered her growing baby bump with a little purple dress. The show's most interesting performance may well have come from Chris Brown, who broke down in tears during an emotional Michael Jackson tribute. Drake's first official album came out only two weeks ago, but that didn't get in the way of him winning Best Male Hip-Hop Artist of the Year. Eminem took the next step in his exciting comeback by having his album debut at the top spot and he was at the ceremony to perform "Not Afraid." Usher and T.I. also serenaded the crowd but denied our shirtless wishes by keeping their tops on. Lady Gaga and Beyonce, meanwhile, weren't on hand to take home their Video of the Year honour for their nearly 10-minute long "Telephone"—check the full list of winners!
Well I guess now we know what that blue hair at the MTV Movie Awards was all about. Katy Perry debuted her video for the already ubiquitous "California Gurls" this week and it's arguably more colorful and candy-coated than Willy Wonka's factory. Russell Brand's better half steps into her own personal Candyland, which features cotton candy clouds and gummi bears that aren't afraid to flip you off. Oh, and for some inexplicable reason, she's also naked when she's not wearing a cupcake bra. (Consider it the antithesis of Lady Gaga's machine gun underwear.) Try not to fall into a sugar coma when you check out Katy doing her thang with a little help from Snoop Dogg and then let me know—do you rate it or hate it?
We go Gaga on this week's Glee and we already had an indication from the photos of the episode that we were in for an outrageous treat. The theatrical theme guided us through Rachel's reunion with her birth mother, Tina's goth predilection and an altercation between Finn and Kurt. The relationship woes are put on the back burner (at least for the most part) and there's not even a single Sue moment to stand on, but there's still plenty to dish about. I can't wait to talk about it all (especially the big duet with Rachel and Shelby), so to get to it, just keep reading!
Glee still has a solid three episodes left until the season finale and like most of the back nine episodes, tonight we have a special theme. Ladies and gentlemen—we give you Gaga! Even if you're not a huge fan of Lady Gaga's music, these photos of the gleeks all decked out in her trademark crazy fashion should be enough to get you excited. To see all the new photos, just keep reading!
It seems like we've been waiting for Lady Gaga's new video to drop for weeks and now it's finally arrived—all eight and a half minutes of it. I don't need to tell you that "Alejandro" is indulgent and over the top, just like Gaga herself. It starts off looking like a cross between Edward Scissorhands and The Matrix as Gaga looks down from a tower at a pack of shirtless dudes dancing in perfect sync. Of course, she eventually joins them—in her skivvies—and there's a whole lotta writhing going on. I know that this isn't the first time the star has been compared to Madonna, but there's a lot of crossover here, from rosary beads to a cone (OK, machine gun) bra. Check it for yourself when you read on.
