If you build it, they will come — even if it's raining cats and dogs. On Monday, Stella McCartney arranged her Resort 2014 collection in New York City's very wet Jefferson Market Gardens. The clothes, of course, shined just as bright as the guest list: the offering was composed primarily of garments in yellow, cream, and pale pink. McCartney injected layers of interest to her colour story with some specially developed fabrics, like a python-embossed jacquard and a rose-coloured paisley print. But perhaps the most interesting pieces were the ones that nodded playfully to the surrealist movement, with lips appearing as prints, lace embroideries, and even beaded appliqués.
