What do Channing Tatum, Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling and Miss Piggy all have in common with Taylor Swift and Harry Styles? They're all members of the Dirty Dancing re-enactment club. Taylor, who celebrates her 23rd birthday today, and Harry were spotted on the dance floor after a One Direction concert re-creating the classic dance scene. We have all the details in this PopSugar Rush.
The Muppets, starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams, is released today, and the new film and overload of Muppet madness all over the entertainment world have got us remembering our deep love of the Muppets and Jim Henson's other projects. They may have been put on the back burner in the last few years, but Muppet fever is no new phenomenon. Since the 1950s, Jim Henson and his creations have been shaping the landscape of entertainment for young and old. From all the way back to Henson's first project Sam and Friends, all the way up the new film, we've got you covered with a history of Henson and the much-adored Muppets.
Jason Segel and his Muppets co-star Kermit the Frog flew into Sydney earlier this week to give Australian fans a taste of their upcoming film. While Kermit wasn’t able to meet and mingle with fans at Westfield Bondi Junction on Wednesday, Jason was super-friendly with the crowd and took plenty of time to take photos and chat with media. The staff of Max Brenner even made him a chocolate pizza with the words ‘Merry Slapsmas’ written in white chocolate buttons! We spoke Jason about bringing The Muppets back to the big screen.
- On whether working with the Muppets was what he expected it to be: “Yeah, and more. You’ve very nervous to meet your idols, and Kermit turns out to be just the dude you pictured he was as a kid. It was just a dream come true, honestly. I had a lot of responsibility on this one, in that I wrote it and was producing it and all that — I had a lot of hats on — but every day I would pinch myself. I had a list of childhood dreams that I wanted, and working with the Muppets was one of them. I never dreamed it would be in this capacity.”
- On how hands-on he was with the development of new Muppet Walter: “Well he’s a puppet, so I was literally hands-in [laughs].”
- On the pressure he put on himself: “The pressure is to honour a legacy created by Mr. Henson and Mr. Oz that means so much to so many people. That’s all I was nervous about: making sure I did justice to a thing that influenced pretty much every person on this planet.”
- On what could top The Muppets, career-wise: “I would actually like to be president of the United States.”
The Muppets is released in Australia on Jan. 12.
We're feeling more than a little generous this holiday season, so we're handing out yet another Sugar award, this time for the Best Beauty Collaboration. There's been quite the lineup of stellar beauty collabs this year, but we've narrowed it down to our top four. Kate Moss celebrated her ten year anniversary with Rimmel with the Kate Moss Lipstick Collection, Kiehl's teamed up with Aussie brands Zimmermann, sass & bide and Ksubi for limited edition variations of the cult classic Crème de Corps and nail giant OPI brought out the Nicole by OPI Kardashians Kolors Line, as well as The Muppets for a 12-piece lacquer line featuring nudes, classic red and glitter. Which brand do you think chose the best personalities, labels and characters to team forces with?
THIS POLL IS NOW CLOSED
It's safe to say that Miss Piggy is having a moment. Not only is the sassy sow getting her own MAC makeup collection, but she's also part of the inspiration behind OPI's 12-piece Muppets-inspired set. We all know how outspoken of a character she can be and it's obvious to see how much pride she takes in her beauty look. So get piggy with it and check out her top tips:
The Muppets are back — and while they may have already taken Manhattan, they're now headed straight to your nails. To mark the new Muppets movie, nail polish giant OPI is launching a limited edition Muppet-themed collection full of sparkly and metallic hues. Will you go for Warm & Fozzie or The Fresh Frog of Bel Air? See our top colour picks in the video now!
In what may be the first porcine-inspired makeup collection in history, Miss Piggy is getting her own makeup collection. On November 14 in the US, MAC will roll out an offering of eye makeup "designed for" the fashionable pig. The selection, to be available online only, features eyeshadow in Miss Piggy Pink, black eyeliner and faux lashes. Add in the movie tie-in OPI Muppets nail polish collection and the outfits Zac Posen designed for our frog-loving heroine turn in the new Muppets movie, and Miss Piggy is looking like one fine swine indeed. UPDATE: The collection is definitely coming to Australia but the official release date is still TBA.
The marketing campaign for Jason Segel's upcoming Muppets movie has been endlessly entertaining, particularly the spoofs of other films. In the latest, they tackle the trailer for David Fincher's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, giant font and all. It also shows us brand new peeks at the Muppet movie, including glimpses at some of the big guest stars like Rashida Jones, Neil Patrick Harris, and Modern Family's Rico Rodriguez. Check out the hilarity.
Get ready to get your Muppet on this holiday season. As a tie-in to the forthcoming movie The Muppets, OPI is launching 12 limited-edition lacquers later in the year. The collection includes six shimmery reds and neutrals, plus six glittery shades — perfect for Christmas parties. And if you're wondering why Miss Piggy only gets three shades named after her, don't fret: she's getting her very own OPI collection in a few months, too.
You've seen the Muppet movie teaser (and probably one of the many parodies), but now we've got the real-deal full trailer for the film. The preview promises everything from action to romance and is packed with all the Muppets we've come to know and love. I'm already loving the throwbacks to classic Muppet moments (Menomena!) and the songs, of course. Jason Segel and Amy Adams lead the lovable pack as a cartoonish couple making a movie with them, and we also get a glimpse of Chris Cooper as one of the very many celebrity cameos that have been promised.
