This Theory About Imogen's Baby's Father In “PLL: Original Sin” Is Disturbing

HBO

“Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” is the third try at a reboot of Freeform’s hit “Pretty Little Liars” series, and it’s helmed by the same creators behind “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” and “Riverdale,” so it’s no surprise some major changes have been made to the original premise. The latest adaptation leans into the slasher-horror vibes, and we are so here for it. Even with the driving mystery of the masked menace “A” lurking dangerously close to the new ensemble of Liars, several running mysteries in the story keep the viewers’ attention as well. The enigma surrounding Imogen’s (Bailee Madison) pregnancy, for instance.

In a recent chat with TV Insider, Bring weighed in on the cloak-and-dagger nature of Imogen’s pregnancy. “You will know who the father is. It’s important, not only to Imogen, but also to the female friendships in the show. It leads toward a very strong bonding between the young women – a strong support system,” she teased.

So who is the father of Imogen’s yet-unborn child? In the three episodes, we’ve gotten scarce details about this mysterious person so far. Ahead, you’ll find all the little puzzle pieces that might lead us closer to the identity of Imogen’s baby’s father.

What We Know About Imogen’s Baby’s Father

After the one-month jump following her mother Davie’s apparent suicide, Imogen returns to Millwood High, at which point it’s revealed she’s now six months into her pregnancy. On her first day back, when her classmates press her for more details about her baby’s father, she says he was a lifeguard, but that he’s not in the picture.

The scene then cuts to a flashback of Imogen sitting alone at the beach with a bottle of liquor beside her, staring straight ahead, deep in thought. In the fleeting slow-mo sequence, Imogen is wearing a blue dress and a matching cardigan – the same outfit she wore to Karen Beasley, her ex-best friend’s, house party. You’ll remember Imogen and Karen ended up arguing at the party over Karen’s boyfriend, Greg, kissing Imogen.

In the wake of her mother’s sudden passing, the overwhelming responsibility to bring up a child hits Imogen, as they were meant to raise the child together in the baby’s father’s absence.

Is Greg Imogen’s Baby’s Father?

Karen kicks Imogen out of her party when Greg outright lies about making a move on the latter. Seeing how Imogen calls Greg out for lying about his shady behaviour in the school cafeteria in the present timeline, it seems unlikely him and Imogen ever did anything more than kiss. If Greg is actually the father, it’s unlikely she would hide that fact.

Who’s Imogen’s Baby’s Father? A Theory

It’s possible the father of Imogen’s baby hasn’t been introduced yet since no one character seems to fit the bill yet. The creators may have slipped one major clue into the show that hints at the father’s identity, however.

In the first episode, Tabby (Chandler Kinney), Imogen’s closest friend, sneakily retrieves a camera she installed in their school’s boys’ locker room. She takes the footage home and carefully navigates through the recording. She’s taking notes while she peruses the content, as if trying to track down someone with a specific physical attribute.

It appears shady, but think back to the flashback of Imogen sitting at the beach. She seemed to have a dishevelled appearance, and the prominently placed alcohol bottle seemed intentional. Is it possible her pregnancy is the result of sexual assault? That would explain why the father isn’t involved in Imogen’s life. It’d also put Tabby’s sleuthing in context. Imogen, possibly not knowing the identity of her assaulter, may have told Tabby about what little she remembers, including any identifying attributes (like a birthmark), which could explain why Tabby took matters into her own hands and is trying to identify him.

We’ll likely revisit the past events more in upcoming episodes, which may give us another clue as to who Imogen’s baby’s father is. New episodes of “PLL: Original Sin” hit BINGE every Thursday, with the fourth and fifth episodes dropping together on Aug. 4.
