2011 Spring Milan Fashion Week Backstage Beauty Report: DSquared2

2011 Spring Milan Fashion Week: DSquared2

There was an air of androgyny backstage at DSquared2 Spring 2011, with the usual glamour being toned down several notches. Gordon Espinet, working for MAC, was chief face painter and gave the girls a smudgy black eye, artfully unkempt brows and an erased lip on top of skin that was neither overly matte or dewy, just in between. Sam McKnight said of the models' messy buns: "It’s girls as boys and boys as girls." Right. Got it. Kind of. But kind of not. Basically the look he seems to have gone for is a big bun at the back of the head, complete with centre part, flyaways and random strands teased out. It's geek meets chic. You like?
