Before we kick off NYFW, there was an event closer to home that brought out all the local fashionistas and A-listers: the David Jones A/W 2011 parade. We were there last night and caught up with MAC's Nicole Thompson who was in charge of the makeup to talk through the three looks of the night — '70s inspired Farrah Fawcett look, the Robert Palmer "Addicted to Love" look and the Biba (not Bieber) look. Check out the video now! Have you got a fave look?
Keep reading . . .The three main models — Samantha Harris, Alexandra Agoston and Nicole Trunfio — each wore one of the three looks, but Nicole tweaked them so that the models' signature style ran through. Sam wore the Robert Palmer look, but Nicole softened the colours as Sam has such gorgeously strong features, so she didn't need the full intensity. She also made the tones warmer, more bronzed, to suit Sam's skin tone. Alessandra wore the Biba look beautifully and Nicole had Farrah Fawcett eyes. As most of the looks centred around glitter, we asked how we can work that into our makeup routine without looking like a disco ball. She said, "Start slow. It's like a red lip — you ease yourself in, starting our sheer. Most of the time people don't wear glitter because they're scared it won't look good, but it will. Just don't go chunky. Chunky is BAD. It's high school. Use a fine one and don't go crazy. Just on your inner V to start with."
