RAFW 2010: Primitive Pieces of Art at Kirrily Johnston

With five different looks and a notion of an "organic new world" that isn't futuristic, a 4:30am call-time this morning and a three-month prep time were required for ghd Hair Director Renya Xydis and her team. The looks, which Renya was keen to stress were not named by her, included: Side Looper (which featured a nice bit of corn-rolling), Stuck Up Bitch, School Girl, Turbo Plus and Horny Goat Head.  They were literally pieces of art. I've never seen anything like it. As I said, Renya and her team spent most Sundays and days off over the past three months braiding hair around wire so that it holds its shape. So for the show, they tied those pieces in with the models' own hair, sewing them in place. Crazy. But boy, do they make an impact.
