Backstage Makeup Hussy SS 2010-11 RAFW 2010
RAFW 2010: Polished, Edgy Eyes at Hussy
Let me tell you, when it gets to about 3pm on day five of Fashion Week, you need something (anything) to get pull you through the last few hours. For me, it came in the form of Laura Mercier Makeup Director Stoj Bulic, who created the gorgeous Hussy S/S 2010/11 makeup using Laura Mercier products.
See Stoj, has worked alongside Pat McGrath. The Pat McGrath (makeup extraordinaire doesn't even cover it) that I would faint if I ever met. And not "worked" as in fetched her tea, oh no, worked as in been beside her, creating the makeup backstage at a whole host of the international shows just gone by, including Calvin Klein, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Balenciaga, Givenchy. The list goes on . . . and on, and on. So I was TOTALLY pumped about meeting her and she was just a delight.
Keep reading . . .She told me that the Hussy makeup look was "polished" but to keep things fun, they were going "edgier" with the eyes, which meant coating the finished look with clear lip gloss. The key part of the look was "tight-lining" the eyes: using Laura Mercier Eye Liner wet with the Flat Eye Liner Brush and gently lifting up the lid and pressing the liner in between the tinsy tiny gaps of the lashes. This really helps to define the eyes and means that mascara isn't always even necessary!
The other exciting part was the sneak peek that we got of a gorgeous new Laura Mercier illuminating palette called, fittingly, Polished. It looks powdery but actually has a gorgeous creamy finish. Stoj used it from the top of the cheekbones up to the brow, on the bridge of the nose and on the cupid's bow. It'll be out around August time so I'll be sure to fill you in on my deets as soon as I have them. What do you think of the look?
