Bella Hadid Ponytail Inspiration

Has Bella Pioneered the No-Botox Botox Look?

Has Bella Pioneered the No-Botox Botox Look?

This morning's calendar alert for Bella Hadid's birthday prompted one of our best discoveries of late. And while most of our deep dives into the vortex of Instagram don't normally prove to be so fruitful (although they are always enjoyable), we have to say we're pretty happy with this discovery. After scrolling Bella's feed for what felt like hours, we realised she might just have pioneered a beauty look that's better than Botox (well, better than Botox for people who don't have Botox). And it has nothing to do with her makeup or skincare routine.

Obviously, the whole Botox vs. no Botox debate is a big one, so if there's a no-risk alternative we can master, we're on board. So from now on, we're doing as Bella does and slicking our hair back into a tight, high pony, to lift our face (in all the right ways). And although great genetics (and age) are obviously on Bella's side, this is something we can easily replicate at home, by ourselves, in less than five minutes flat.

However, take note, the key is all in the placement. For this look to really work, you need to pull the pony back tight and high on the head (brushing your hair up, in line with your cheekbones should allow you to find the sweet spot). If you are struggling to get all your hair to pull back smoothly, spray a light coating of hairspray (Original Queenie from O&M should fit the bill) over your brush to help pull the hair into place. Then once you've secured with a band, grab your pony, and pull it higher and tighter to really lift the face. Once that's done you can secure with a final hairband to hold the look in place. If you've still got flyaways, spray your hairbrush again (we'd suggest a Mason Pearson Boar Bristle Brush) and lightly run the brush over your hair. Don't forget to repeat this process under your pony (at the nape of your neck) to ensure you have a sleek look all over (unless you were going for a rat's tail, but let's be real, you probably weren't . . . ).

The end result is pretty cool and if you really want to go for it, add an elongated winged liner and some contour and you'll be catching yourself in the mirror thinking you look all kinds of good. Not convinced? Put it to the test and try this on a night out — you'll be getting ID checked for sure.
