Best Hair, Makeup and Beauty Tips From Backstage Fashion Weeks!

10 of the Best Beauty Tips I've Heard That I Totally Swear By

With RAFW just around the corner, it's time to talk tips. Because another year means another influx of nifty little tricks that we'll pick up from the industry's best when we're hanging out backstage. To kick things off, I thought I'd share my favourite top ten tips that I live by, I'd love to hear yours, too . . .

TIP #1: When cleansing your face, especially of a morning, be sure to massage the product into your skin. Same goes for serum and moisturiser. That extra two minutes of work really gets the blood flowing and gives your skin a radiance boost.

TIP #2: Play up either your lips or eyes.

TIP #3: If you don't have blush on you, or aren't sure what colour to match to your lipstick, pop a little lippy on your finger and blend into the apples of your cheeks.

More of my must-have tips right this way!TIP #4: Have two foundation shades — one for Summer, one for Winter.

TIP #5: Don't rub concealer in — it's designed to sit on top of your skin.

TIP #6: Exfoliate your lips with a toothbrush.

TIP #7: If you have a blemish, take a lip brush and use that to apply your concealer. You literally only want to conceal the tiny bump, not the entire area around it — otherwise that will draw unnecessary attention to it.

TIP #8: When wearing bright lipstick, avoid the dreaded lipstick-on-teeth by sucking your finger (sounds weird, actually works) and pulling it out in that oh-look-at-me-aren't-I-sexy kind of way. It removes the excess pigment so it won't end up on your pearly whites!

TIP #9: If you dent your nails just after painting them, don't despair. Dip a cotton bud in nail polish and ever so gently, wipe over the dent. You don't want to push down and remove the polish, you're just smoothing the dent so your mani looks as good as new.

TIP #10: Smooth down flyaways by spritzing hairspray onto a tissue and smoothing over your roots. Alternatively spray an old (but clean) bronzer brush and gently brush over the flyaways.

And an extra one for luck! When putting volume into your hair, start the waves below the widest point of your face — often the bottom of your cheekbones. If curl your hair above this line it will make your face look bigger.
