If there's anyone's brain we want to pick, it's that of a celebrity makeup artist. So, when we had the opportunity to chat to Australian makeup artist Victoria Baron ahead of tonight's David Jones SS18 Collections Launch, you just know it was a difficult task to edit down the amount of questions we wanted to ask.
With a celebrity clientele that includes the likes of Jessica Mauboy, Phoebe Tonkin, Kylie Minogue and Nicole Warne (aka Garry Pepper Girl) and as an officially appointed makeup artist for Chanel Australia, you can trust that Victoria really knows her stuff.
Keep reading to learn what beauty product Victoria can't live without, her favourite makeup trend for 2018 and the one piece of advice she'd offer to a makeup novice.
POPSUGAR Australia: What's your favourite makeup look to create on your clients?
Victoria Baron: One that they love and represents them as a person.
PS: What's your favourite show to work on?
VB: McQueen. Backstage and line up is the most inspiring experience. I have a little tear in the finale every time.
PS: Out of all of your celebrity clients who would you say is most daring?
VB: Jessica Mauboy. Daring in all aspects of her life.
PS: Which do you prefer: bold lip or dark eyes?
VB: Red, bold lips.
PS: What's your personal go-to makeup look?
PS: What's your personal go-to hairstyle?
VB: Also simple. I blow dry my hair upside down (apparently, I'm committing a serious hair crime doing this), flip it over and spin it in a knot on my head while it cools to create a natural wave.
PS: What is the skincare product you can't live without?
VB: Equal Beauty Moisture Veil Mask — I don't even want to count how many I have used.
PS: What is the one makeup product you can't live without?
VB: Red lip stick (Chanel Rouge Allure Ink).
PS: If you had to give one makeup tip to a novice what would it be?
VB: Pick a feature you love about yourself and focus on that.
PS: What is your favourite makeup trend for 2018?
VB: Diversity and expression.
PS: What is the one makeup look you wouldn't create on yourself?
VB: A heavy base and contour with a 100-step makeup process (you know what I mean!).
PS: What do you love the most about your job?
VB: The wonderful people I share my day with.
PS: What's the one thing you would change about your job?
VB: That my makeup cases can magically float and become weightless and easy to transport.
