In a nod to the '90s, the mullett has made an appearance at Australian Fashion Week, and it's come in the form of bright wigs contrasted with bold lips. From pink and blue locks to lilac lips, it was a fresh and fun take on hair and makeup. The experts explain below. . .
"The Emma Mulholland girl is all about the '90s TV series dramas. We are talking Friends, 90210, Melrose Place and even Saved by The Bell," says Maybelline New York's Nigel Stanislaus. "It's very innocent and happy and all about a raw, youthful, flat face but we are modernising it by making it luminous with moisturiser and only spot concealing. The hero here is the lipstick; creamy, candy looking and matte. To get the coral, lilac and pink lip we are mixing each lipstick (Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lip Color in Pink Peony, On The Mauve and Coral Pop) with Maybelline New York Color Sensational Stripped Nudes Lip Color in Tantalizing Taupe."
ghd's Alan White created the crazy hair and says, "they are bored, they don't want to be at work, they can't wait to get out. They have their own hairstyle underneath this wig and they've thrown this on because it's a quick and easy way to get to out on the town. The colours all that work in with the collection and I really like that low fringe and how it goes into their own dishevelled hair at the back — it just gives a wig a different element. The look is thrown on, but still stylish."
