When we first reported that Emma Watson might become Lancôme's latest leading lady, it was no more than just a rumour that we were so hoping would come true. Now the Harry Potter star is tweeting (albeit cryptically!) about her latest role of Lancôme ambassadress. She first piqued fans interest saying: "A new venture is starting - what can it be? Follow my clues and you will see" and then came more tweets, which we've decoded.
I'll pierce your skin if you hold me wrong but I'll love you forever if you pass me on. Lancôme's symbol is a singular golden rose, seen most notably in Elettra Rossellini Wiedemann's Ô My Rose campaign. It's inspired by the roses that surround the ruins of the Le Château de Lancosme castle.
I'll be seen through a lens that has seen me before. Do you know who I mean, or do you still need more? Emma regularly gets snapped by Mario Testino and the legendary photographer is also the man behind the lens of some of Lancôme's most beautiful print ads.
Keep reading . . .Are you keeping pace? No? Don't lose face, it's not a race. We share our birthplace... Even though Em is a classic English Rose, she was actually born in Paris, where she lived until the age of five.
It's a beauty house that wears a hat. French? Very, but this is no beret. Here, Emma's referring to the circumflex above the "o" which replaced the "s" in the original name put forward for Lancôme — Lancosme, after the Le Château de Lancosme castle.
This Pretty Woman was their latest recruit. Other great actresses have previously followed suit. The "Pretty Woman" that Miss Watson talks about is obviously Julia Roberts, though another Julia (Restoin Roitfeld) was actually the newest signing before Em joined the Lancôme family.
What do you think of Emma's tweets? Do you wish more ambassadors would get involved like this? Did you guess what Emma was talking about?
