Every year, those in the know wait with baited breath for Estée Lauder’s holiday collection to be unveiled. For many have yet to see anything match the sheer opulence of its solid perfume and powder compacts.
What makes them so special? Well they literally are works of art. Over the years, world renowned artists such as Judith Leiber and Jay Strongwater have worked with the brand to create the limited edition pieces.
The stunning compacts have been going strong since the first pressed powder compact was created in 1963. The complete collection, which totals more than 770 pieces, includes original designs from Mrs. Estée Lauder herself.
The range includes intricate detailing, elaborate CRYSTALLIZED™ Swarovski Elements, a beautiful colour palette and dynamic moving parts.
My pick for 2009 is Jay Strongwater’s Pure White Linen Juke Box ($700).
Available at the Estée Lauder counter at David Jones and MYER.
