Eva Longoria, actress and L'Oréal Paris global ambassador (among many other things!) is in town for Melbourne’s Virgin Australia Fashion Festival and we were lucky enough to hear her talking candidly about beauty to fellow ambassador, Megan Gale, just last night. So what did we learn about the Latino star?
“I grew up as the ugly ducking of my family. I had dark skin, dark hair, dark eyes, and all my sisters were blonde and my mother is very light skinned! There are four girls in my family and people would always come up and say to my mother, ‘your daughters are so beautiful! And who’s this?’ So I remember when I signed with L'Oréal Paris, I was like, ‘ha! Look at me now!’ Yes, we were surprised too! How times have changed for the a-lister who regularly stands out for her fashion and beauty choices on red carpets around the world.
Another shock to the system? She gets exactly eight hours of sleep every day. Unheard of! “I have to get eight hours of sleep. I’m not nice if I don’t!” She also used to colour her mother’s hair! “I was like eight or nine and my mum would buy the hair colour and I would do it at home, with the gloves and everything.”
Eva’s mum also played a major role in her love of makeup over the years. “She always had this red L'Oréal Paris lipstick and because they have a fragrance, whenever I smell their lipsticks, it immediately takes me back to this moment of stealing my mum’s and putting it on as eyeshadow and blush and drawing and colouring in with it.”
What a treat she was. Her interview made us like her even more! What do you think?
