8 Things You Need to Know Before You Get Hair Extensions
Ever since I heard Selena Gomez admit that her hair was fake I've been thinking about hair extensions. So when I was contacted about trialling Great Lengths extensions a few months ago I knew it was meant to be! A few years back I trialled tape extensions and I have to admit, they are addictive. Naturally fair, my fine hair is best highlighted and chopped so it looks fuller . . . but I can't help but get mermaid hair envy, especially when I see Selena's hair flicks.
After the success of trialling feather touch brow tattoos, I like to think I'm a little more adventurous when it comes to trialling more permanent beauty solutions. A bit more time invested once for longer-lasting solutions, which will save me time on the daily, is a massive win for early-morning starts (and lazy girls who want to look polished with minimal effort!). I went in for a consultation with extension guru Rumbie at Bauhaus Hair and she walked me through the whole process and colour-matched me for my extensions. A week later I returned to get them put in — 100 extensions and four hours later, my hair is now a good 12 centimetres longer than it was!
It's now been almost five months after I first got my extensions in . . . and I don't want to take them out! The hair quality is still incredible, but the bonds have grown out so much it's time to say goodbye. The hair above each bond does matt a little after a few months, but this is completely natural and is just the hairs that would usually naturally fall out and can't go anywhere because the extensions are holding them in. Once you switch up your brush to a natural bristle, so it doesn't tug, I could happily have them in forever!
