How-To: Carey Mulligan's Cute Beehive From the 2010 Dubai International Film Festival
How-To: Carey Mulligan's Cute-as-a-Button Beehive
Carey Mulligan is continuning on her one woman mission to show the world just how versatile shorter hair can be and that growing out your hair needn't mean not being stylish. At yesterday's Dubai International Film Festival, the British beauty teamed a long frock with this gorgeous and oh-so wearable beehive. We spoke to Sebastian Professional's Joey Scandizzo and asked him to give us the lowdown on recreating Carey's '60s style at home.
STEP 1: Clean hair tends to be slippery to work with, so day old hair will definitely style — and more importantly, hold your style — more easily. Wash your hair the night before you plan to wear this style with a volumising range. I recommend Sebastian Professional Volupt Shampoo ($33), Conditioner ($35) and Volupt Spray ($33).

STEP 3: Apply a thickening mousse to add volume and grip to the hair, then, leaving the top section out, take the sides and nape section to the centre back and pin.
STEP 4: Back comb the top section slightly and smooth back over the pins, using hairspray to get a sleek result.
STEP 5: Finish with hairspray to hold the style.
