How-To: Heather Morris’ High-Fashion-Meets-Old-Hollywood Hairstyle

How-To: Heather Morris’ High Fashion/Old Hollywood Style

She may not be as well known as her fellow cast mates, but Glee star Heather Morris (aka Brittney) is definitely one to watch if her InStyle Glee Golden Globes Nominations Party hair is anything to go by. It reminded me of three things: Megan Fox at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards and both the Michael Lo Sordo and Kirrily Johnston (sans the hair-as-jewellery look) 2009 RAFW shows.

So what’s a girl gotta do to get a little how-to happening around here? Keep reading . . .

First up, prep your washed and towel-dryed hair with a heat protective product like Aveda Smooth Infusion Style Prep Smoother ($39.95), then blow dry, not caring if it’s messy—you’ll be curling later anyways.

Next, using inch-long sections of hair, use your hair straightener to curl the hair. (Think of how you would curl ribbon using scissors: put the straightener in at a horizontal angle, then flip it upwards and pull through the hair.)

Gently brush out the curl using a bristle brush to create gorgeously soft waves. Then spritz with a flexible-hold hairspray.

Finally finish the look by combing through a medium-hold gel such as Aveda Confixor Fixative ($39.95) from the front hairline to the back of your scalp.
