How-To: The Perfect Race Day Manicure Tips For Derby Day, Melbourne Cup, Spring Racing Carnival 2010
Nail Your Race Day Look With Top Tips For Triffic' Talons
Happy Derby Day, peeps! Now, most organised race-goers would've gotten their mani done yesterday, but if you're a little late to the par-tay or want to be super-prepared for Melbourne Cup, then we've got the tips for you. We caught up with celebrity manicurist and ORLY Creative Director, Fiona Hay, to ask what everyone should be wearing this Spring Carnival . . .
TIP #1: Work with your outfit. Choose something complimentary, but this doesn't necessarily mean it has to be in the same colour family.
TIP #2: Fresh, pretty pastels work well for day time events; peaches and corals look amazing with pale blues and greys.
TIP #3: Being a daytime event where you can really dress up, don't be afraid to use a beautiful gold or silver (from ORLY's FX range) or a hot red for the races.

TIP #5: If you can't get to your manicurist that close to the race, a coat of top coat each day helps to prolong your manicure and keep it looking fresh and glossy.
TIP #6: The best shape for race day is not too long (never a good look), not too square. Go just to the end of your fingertip or a millimetre over and follow the shape of your fingertip in a square/round shape.
