How to Cover Up a Hangover

How-To: Hide a Huge Holiday Hangover

Hey there, party girl. Have lots of social obligations over the next couple weeks, with too much Grey Goose and not nearly enough chance of some shut-eye?

Don't fret — it happens to everyone this time of year. But there's something you should know: the difference between a small hangover that no-one notices and a total friggin' disaster is a matter of preparedness. Fact.

We've got a six-step plan to help you look great, no matter how much your head and stomach hate you right now. Keep reading . . .

If you're pale, apply a little self-tanner to your face before you go out to the party. When you wake up it'll counteract the pallid look that only Marilyn Manson can pull off.

De-puff. I'm guessing you may have forgotten the one mojito, one glass of water rule when you were dancing til 3am. Which means as well as a glittery cowboy hat, random tie and eight phone numbers, you also scored some under-eye baggage last night. The solution? Before you go out, wet a dishcloth, put it in a sandwich baggie and pop it in the fridge. Sweet, sweet relief. Put your eye cream in the fridge, too, for extra under eye de-puffery. When you're done, some anti-redness eye drops wouldn't go amiss.

Find some shimmery white eyeliner, like Korres Colour Soft Eyeliner Pencil in White ($29.95). When you're getting ready, line your eyes with it (inside the lash line) and then use it in the inner corners of your eye. It brightens your peepers and makes them look less red.

Concealer is very important. Use a yellow-based shade under your eyes and on your lids to counteract the purple, or put a thick yellow concealer like Physicians Formula Gentle Cover® Concealer Stick in Yellow ($14.95) on beneath your regular concealer.

Lightly sweep a light pink blush with shimmer, like Bloom Powder Blush in Rosebud ($28), across your cheekbones, nose, temples, chin and forehead. It deflects light and makes you look healthier.

Your hair is probably a mess. Put it in a loose braid — it hides grease and tangles and looks styled.
