Dear Jess,
I hear you! I also love a matte lip, but it's not the most comfortable trend going. The thing is, using balm is really vital to getting moisture back. I learnt a tip from Kai Vinson, international director of artistry and education at Bobbi Brown, and it really works!

Take a tissue with some balm on it, and blot it on the inside of your lips. Not on the outside though, because your lipstick will bleed. After blotting on the inside of your lips, give it a good five or so minutes to sink in and absorb, then go on with another coat of lipstick.

I hope I've helped, it works for me! — Alison, POPSUGAR health and beauty editor
