The Hair Trend That's Like Being Back at School . . . But Cooler
By the looks of my primary school class photos I wasn't the only one whose mum gave up on taming their child's long, thick hair by tying it in a bun, then wrapping a scarf around the bun so many times it was physically impossible for a single strand to slip out of place — also impossible: yanking it out at lunchtime in an attempt at rebellion. It felt like torture at the time but looking back I was pretty chic (thanks, mum!) — even if blinking was difficult — and we're feeling a more-relaxed resurgence coming on.
The how-to is simple, pull your hair into a topknot or low loose bun. Use a thin elastic to secure it in place. Next, grab your scarf and wrap it around your bun, leaving enough length to tightly knot it in place. If you're using a silk scarf, it can get slippery on your hair, so keep some fringe pins on hand to stop it from sliding off the bun.
But what kind of scarf should you buy? Choose a colour that complements your hair colour (brunette? The bright pink and red combo is fire!) and know that it's a trend impossible to screw up.
Enjoy this round-up of our personal faves from luxe to, well, affordable-luxe because there's nothing "less" about these scarves.
