How a Lash Lift Changed My Life
If you had ever met my lashes — pre-lift — you'd have hated them. They were boring, dead-straight and never liked to play nice with eyelash curlers — it's like they took pleasure in being stubborn. They were real jerks.
Eyelash extensions made me look like a clown, fake lashes required more effort than I'm physically capable of, and eyelash tints only emphasised their stubbornness. I assumed I was doomed to live out my days with horrible lashes, until the day I was introduced to the wonderful world of lash lifts. In particular, an Amy Jean Eye Couture Lash Elevate.
Now my lashes do what they're born to do: widen and exaggerate my eyes (praise the lord!). The following are answers to the questions I'm now always asked:
But how does it work?
Despite how it sounds, there's nothing invasive about this 45-minute (one-hour max!) treatment — if you like to relax, you'll love a lash lift. It's like a perm for your lashes but a lot less effort. Just show up, close your eyes and trust that your lashes are in capable hands. Not keen on people poking in and around your eyes — I mean, who is? I wore contacts and the treatment was no issue for my usually irritated eyes.
How long does it last?
Eight awesome weeks to be precise! For best results, the pros recommend waiting out the eight weeks before coming back for more (and you will be back, this is some seriously addictive stuff!).
Seriously! I now no longer own an eyelash curler, never thought I'd say it, but I have no need for one. Instead, I own a pair of "naturally" curled lashes that require zero maintenance. I wake up and my lashes are perfectly curled and evenly separated. I cry/shower/swim and not a single lash budges. Even intense, sweaty exercise doesn't disturb their awesomeness — it's magic. Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week (for eight weeks) my lashes are on fleek (can I say that?).
Do you still wear makeup?
Typically, I'm into the minimal makeup look, not just because applying eyeliner requires more skill than my full-time job, but because I'm of the belief less is more. A lash lift means I don't need mascara day-to-day because my eyes always look done. Properly. Done.
So what has this set you back? Like, a house deposit? *Looks to the crowd for approval* Amirite? Amirite?
Ah, no, sassy pants. It's totally affordable. I paid $115 for the Lash Elevate at the Amy Jean Eye Couture Studio in Sydney, which includes the lift (of course), a tint and a lash conditioner. Yep, conditioner for your lashes! Can you imagine!?
