We all know about the 3 o'clock slide. Where all traces of the makeup you're pretty certain you applied that morning are gone. The casualties of an oil slick. Well 3 o'clock turns into 11am on Race Day. Yep, if there's one thing we hate about the races, it's the fact that makeup just refuses to stay in place. Which sucks. Because you'll have spent so long getting ready to Nicola Burford's tips and styling your hair like Joh Bailey told you to and now it's just gone, well, to BEEP, all because you FORGOT TO PRIME.
It's the most important part of your makeup application and allow me to introduce to you one of the best I've ever tried: Hourglass Solar Self-Tanning Primer ($89). Yes, it's mighty pricey for a primer. But hold up. Imma tell you why it's oh-so worth it. Umm, Madonna uses it. Well not this exact one, but the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer SPF15 ($79). Her makeup artist Gina Brooke told me. And you know someone like Madonna isn't going to use just any primer. She's going to use the BEST. And Hourglass primer is the best. Because y'know when Madge is up on stage writhing around in lycra . . . it's Hourglass primer that's keeping her makeup in place.
Which some might say makes it a little over-qualified for Derby Day, because I'm pretty certain that dancing in a purple leotard is frowned upon at the races. Psst. Hourglass Solar Self-Tanning Primer ($89) is my pick because it features DHA, as well as vitamin A, E and glycerin so it creates a gorgeous, luminous glow in about five days. LOVE.
