Can MNY Take On MAC With Its Baked Shadow? We Find Out

If you're a fan of MAC Mineralize Eye Shadow Duos ($40 each), then you may think Maybelline NY's new EyeStudio Baked Duos ($13.95) look surprisingly similar. They do. 'Tis true. On first glance it's only MNY's square packaging that's different, right? But can the new MNY shadow hold its own against the cult MAC one? That's what I wanted to find out. Now, as anyone who's used baked shadow before will know, they allow really strong depth of pigment and don't go all wishy-washy on you. Neither of these do. Plus the swirly side of both the shadows create a totally unique colour. In one hit with MNY's Navy Narcissist, you'll pick up hints of turquoise, grey and pink. Same with MAC's Sea & Sky. Both are super easy to apply and impart an ever-so subtle luminous sheen that's really pretty. Aside from the packing, the only real difference is that the MAC ones last a bit longer and have a slighter more in-your-face pigment which might be for you, might not. MAC also offers a 12-shade range, MNY, just five. BUT at less than half the price the MNY version is a sweet-as dupe if you're broke as a joke.
