Nanette Lepore Shows Us How to Soften a Red Lip
The neo-romantic collection coming down the runway at Nanette Lepore's Spring 2014 show translated directly to a beauty look consisting of wispy hair and bright red lips. "The look is soft but edgy," lead stylist Jeanie Syfu for Tresemmé said. Therefore, Syfu created a "whimsical, matte texture" in the hair to complement the light and airy fabrics in the collection. To get an edgy feel, she set the hair with elastics to achieve natural-looking bends in the hair. Shine was minimised by applying Fresh Start Colour Care Dry Shampoo.
Makeup artist James Kaliardos for Mac Cosmetics went for a soft, contoured complexion paired with a red lip colour: Velvetease Lip Pencil in Lovers Lane. The chunky pencil created a soft line that made it less harsh than a typical red lip hue. And Michelle Sauders for Essie used Blanc ($18.95) on the nails, a crisp white that Nanette's daughter picked for the show.
