When it comes to hair, one season's it's all about matte, raw texture, the next? Polished sleek strands. So what about right here, right now? How are we meant to be wearing our hair? That's the question we posed to Wella's Creative Director Eugene Souleiman who described this season's texture as "hyper natural." In other words, it's done, but not too done. "I love to see girls with beautiful hair that’s kind of done but it doesn’t really feel like it’s been done. I like it to be about something that’s a little more sensual and healthy and I like to see those little imperfections in hair that give that kind of beauty to a woman." Referencing the hairstyle he created for the DKNY S/S 2012 show — his top pick for early 2012 — he shares how to recreate the look at home.
"It’s a really nice blow-out, then you just literally pick your hair up and twist it in a bun, pop a pin in it, spray a little ocean spritz on the ends — just to give you a little more texture and make your hair feel a little more arid — stick a bit of heat in for 10 minutes and let it cool down. Then take it out and you’re done. It's kind of like you’re using your hair as a roller, you’re rolling your hair around itself to create movement so you get more relaxed feeling of movement than that round curl. You get something that’s so easy."
