Opium Gets Us Addicted All Over Again

Some 30 years after Opium first wafted into the world of fragrance with its spicy opulence, Yves Saint Laurent Parfums is relaunching the women’s eau de parfum and eau de toilette, reports WWD.

If Chanel No.5 is a sign of chic, timeless elegance, YSL Opium is its exotic, alluring counterpart. Throughout the years a bevy of beauties have leant their writhing torsos to the ads, ensuring its place in history as one of the sexiest scents of all time.

And now the mandarin, bergamot, jasmine, amber, sweet myrrh and patchouli juice is getting a “modern makeover” thanks to Stefano Pilati and Fabien Baron.

With a new bottle and ad campaign – starring the seductive Karen Elson – to boot, the lucky ducks over in France received the “fragrance addiction” first, but the rest of us will have to wait patiently until March. Which, by my calculation, is only 16 weeks away.
