Paint Your Own Golden Starburst Nail Art Design

Learn This Gorgeous Gold-Burst Nail Art Technique

This striking nail design looks a lot more complicated than it really is. Aside from two nail shades — we used Topshop Nail Polish in Heart of Gold (approx $10) and RGB Nail Color in Plum (approx $16) — all you need is tape and a pair of scissors. To learn how to create the look, read more. Start by painting your nails with the gold polish. Once the gilded base is dry (after about 30 minutes), start cutting one-inch strips of tape into thin, triangular-shaped points; these will become the sharp ends of your starburst. Place three to five overlapping pieces of tape on your fingertips, and then paint the contrasting colour over the tape. Slowly peel off the tape while the polish is still wet. We recommend taping, painting, and peeling one finger at a time. Once you're finished, use a top coat to seal the lacquers and to give your design an extra pop of shine. It's best to paint the top coat on quickly, so the colours do not run. And although it takes a little time to cut and place the strips of tape, the impressive results are more than worth it.
