Do You Own These 5 Essential Pink Lipstick Shades?
How many times have you tried on a shade of lipstick — one that looks absolutely amazing on your best friend — only to find it completely disagrees with your skin tone?
For me, that shade is orange. I've tried every hue under the sun — tangerine, burnt orange, coral and rustic shades included. The result? I sadly resemble something similar to that of a traffic control cone. Why? When orange or yellow hues meet olive skin tones, they tend to bring out yellow-ish undertones in the skin. Not so cute, huh?
Typically sheer, natural lip shades are universally flattering because they allow for your natural lip colour to overpower the lipstick shade which is why they work across the widest range of skin tones. Subtle undertones of gold, copper or yellow tend to work best across all skin tones too, while shades with undertones of purple or blue can vary drastically depending on warm or cool skin tones. Although these general rules stand true, we're huge advocates of a daring lip.
While some shades just aren't made to match every skin tone, a select few certainly are. But who has time to sift through the endless amounts of pretty lipsticks to find their perfect match?
