If you have thick hair, you know the struggle of trying to put it up in a ponytail. Elastics just don't secure your strands tightly enough. If you do manage to get a hair tie taut around your mane, it snaps! Luckily, Australia-based stylist Kristina Youssef took to her Instagram account and showed us the perfect solution: a simple hack.
In the video above (which is perfectly set to Ginuwine's "Pony"), she demonstrates how to create a more adjustable hair elastic by attaching two bobby pins. If you're trying this at home, you should gather all your strands in one hand, then insert one of the bobbies into your hair at the nape of your neck. Now you can wrap the elastic around as tightly as you'd like — don't worry about breaking it. After fastening the other bobby pin, you can choose to hide the elastic with an extra tuft of hair.
It may add an extra few seconds to your styling routine, but you can be sure that your ponytail won't budge until you're ready to take it down!
