When we caught up with Redken Hair Director Richard Kavanagh backstage at Sara Phillips he told us that the hairstyle he'd created for the models was a "little bit rockabilly, a little bit home on the ranch." Sara's SS 2010-11 collection features lots of pastels so he wanted the hair to have some edge and androgyny to it. Basically, they're "tough cowboy chicks." So don't you go messing with them. The finished look was three-fold: a flat crown, a mullet in the back and a quiff in the front. Well, gee, don't that just sound super y'all. While I'll skip the mullet and the quiff, I did like the fancy messed-up action at the back. Richard created this using Woolshake (that super excellent product that you can win on FabSugar all this week) to add "balls" to the hair and give it that "strong, grunty, matte" texture. Then he brushed it through and just quickly pinned it back. The trick is not to over-style. Whaddya think? One of your faves or not?
