Me and summer – we have a love/hate relationship. As much as I adore breaking out the short skirts and tanner, I dread what the intense sun and humidity does to my hair. Think oily roots combined with socket-chic frizz. A sight to behold if ever there was one. So I was quite excited to put Moroccanoil ($49.50) – a serum that promises to fix all that – through its paces.
Moroccanwhat?! Moroccanoil. It's a hair nourishing serum, designed to seal in shine, heal nasty split ends and smooth frizz, all while protecting your precious locks from the elements.
I’m listening . . . Made from 100 percent argan oil and rich in vitamin E, the formula is said to reduce hair drying time by up to 50 percent, without leaving an oily residue.
OK, but does it actually work? Surprisingly, yes. I’m usually skeptical about using serums. Adding an oil-based product to oily-ish hair always seems rather counterproductive. But Moroccanoil was different. The lightweight formula lived up to its promise, working its magic without leaving a residue. My hair certainly feels softer and, if the comments from friends are any indication, it’s also shinier. I haven’t noticed any decrease in drying time, but my ends do look decidedly less split.
And the scent? Subtle and exotic.
