Revlon Photoready Colour Correcting Pen Review

The Colour Correcting Pens That Will Help You Fake a Good Sleep Every Single Day

A post shared by Revlon (@revlon) on

Besides our trusty concealer and powdered highlighter, it's hard to find a makeup combo that has everlasting coverup powers over our dark circles. It seems, as the day drags on it doesn't take long for the evidence, of very little sleep the night before, to shine on through all the concealer and highlighter, no matter how thick we slap it on.

That was until we tried Revlon Photoready Colour Correcting Pens. Now we are looking fresh 24/7 even if our sleep is a dismal 4.5 hours most nights.

The exact pens in question are the 030 for dark spots ($24.95) and 020 for dullness ($24.95).

Note: there are three in the range. The third is made for redness, which isn't our concern at the moment (review to come) so we're sticking to these two, for the purpose of bright eyes.

The pens are simple to use, relatively mess-free and the formula has impressive staying power. Twist the product up through to the brush on the end and dot the colour on your problem areas. See? Simple.

For best results, apply the colour correctors onto the skin after applying foundation and any cream-based products and before any powdered bronzer or highlighter.

But our tips don't stop there:

For brightness under eye, dot the purple pen just above your cheekbone diagonally up towards your hairline and along your brow bone, basically, anywhere you would apply a highlighter. Let the product sit before you blend it in, this will help it last longer (we use this time to switch to the peach pen and fight those darker areas). Use a damp makeup sponge or your ring finger to gently pat it out and blend the product into your skin.

For most, darkness around the eye area can be found in the inner and outer corners of the eye and directly beneath the lower lash line. On those areas the peach pen is so effective. Dot the colour on top of your darkest areas and allow for the colour to dry. Use a damp makeup sponge or your ring finger to gently blend the colour into your skin.

The results are instant, and once you've finished with your colour correcting you're good to continue with your powders. Sweep some highlighter on top of the areas where you applied the purple pen and prepare to be amazed at how bright and awake your eyes look ALL day long.

Dear Revlon, please don't discontinue these pens, ever! Thanks!
