What is the number one factor brides to be should consider when signing up to a skincare overhaul?
We recommend that brides have a skin consultation at least three months prior to their big day. This gives their skincare specialist the opportunity to make an individualised treatment plan ahead of the event. At The Clinic, we would usually recommend a course of peels and/or IPL to brighten the skin and reduce any breakouts/issues specific to the bride. It’s also a good idea to incorporate active ingredients into their regime, including Vitamin A (to encourage healthy cell turnover and clarity) and Vitamin C (a powerful antioxidant which brightens the skin) and we strongly encourage the use of sunblock every day.
What treatments are safe for breastfeeding mothers?
Our famous blueberry peel is a great treatment for breastfeeding mothers, as it helps to reinvigorate and refresh the skin. We also offer the Societe medi-facial, which is a wonderful treatment for dry or irritated skin. It is a softening, brightening treatment that is excellent for congested and sensitive skins.
What is this famous blueberry peel you speak of, what does it do and why is it so popular?
The blueberry peel is a lactic acid peel with jojoba beads. This means that it provides both a chemical and manual exfoliation. It’s a great peel for anyone wanting to improve dull or lacklustre skin or to treat mild breakouts. The blueberry peel is an excellent pre-event peel as there is no down-time afterwards, meaning you will walk out with bright, glowing skin. The reason it is so popular is because the results are immediate and long-lasting. There is no preparation required prior to this peel, and it is suitable for both pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Call me a rookie, but what exactly is IPL and what are the benefits
IPL uses a beam of many different wavelengths of light to break down the accumulated spots of melanin, reddened areas and the blood which has leaked out of broken capillaries. It lightens and removes sun spots, age spots, brown ‘blotches’ on the face, neck, chest and hands. It also lightens and reduces redness, rosacea and broken capillaries. IPL also improves skin texture through collagen stimulation, mitigates acne/breakouts and can reduce the size of pores.
What specialist treatment would you recommend for really, really, really glowing skin?
Pelleve! It is radiofrequency collagen remodelling/skin tightening. It works by delivering energy into the dermal tissue to induce collagen contraction without any damage to the skin. It’s a great treatment for brides to consider as it is non-invasive, subtle and gives a fantastic lift to the skin — particularly around the eyes. There is no downtime for the treatment and following a course of three treatments, can last up to a year!
