Starting a CLEAN & CLEAR® Skincare Routine Early On is Best For Your Skin!

Starting a Skincare Routine Early On is Best For Your Skin!

The question on every young girl’s lips is, what’s Justin Bieber’s phone number when should I start cleansing my skin and what should I use? It’s an important one, so I’ve compiled this handy guide for help, and even if you’re past the stage of “starting out” when it comes to skincare — chances are you'll know someone who will benefit from this advice, so share it with them!

So where do you start and when? Well your teens are the perfect time. That’s when sebum (aka oil) production levels are higher so it’s good to balance them out with non-comedogenic (read: won’t clog your pores) and oil-free products. The entire CLEAN & CLEAR® range is perfect for this reason, but finding a cleanser suited to your specific needs comes down to personal preference and delving a little deeper into your skin type.

If you’ve got straight-up oily skin, CLEAN & CLEAR® Essentials Self-Foaming Facial Wash ($9.49) is just the ticket. Foaming cleansers tend to be slightly more drying than creamy cleansers, making them the perfect for oily-prone skin. This one is especially great as it’s not overly-drying and astringent like some can be.

Keep reading . . .If you have oily skin that’s dry in places, try CLEAN & CLEAR® Deep Action Cream Wash ($9.99). It effectively removes dirt, oil and other impurities, but creamy cleansers are also great at restoring moisture to dry skin.

If you have normal skin that you’d like to keep healthy and clean then a gel-based cleanser such as CLEAN & CLEAR® Morning Burst Facial Cleanser ($10.99) is a perfect choice. They tend to be quite gentle, yet effective and this one is especially great in the morning as it features an invigorating blend of citrus notes!

If you have oily skin that’s prone to breakouts, a targeted solution such as CLEAN & CLEAR® Advantage Pimple Control Kit ($19.99) is your saviour. This range features an alpha-hydroxy acid (more commonly known as AHAs) called salicylic acid. This is a gentle chemical exfoliant, meaning it gets rid of oil, dirt and gunk blocking your pores without using any beads that can sometimes spread acne-causing bacteria.

The next step is a toner, which basically serves as a second cleanse, removing any stubborn oil and impurities. It’s also a great idea to start using a gentle scrub or exfoliator in your teens. If you don’t start removing the dead skin cells that build up on a daily basis, it won’t be long until your skin starts to lack life and look dull. We love the new CLEAN & CLEAR® Deep Action In-Shower Facial ($10.79) which is basically a 3-in-1 cleanser, mask and exfoliator that leaves your skin as soft as a salon visit! And the most important tip is not to skip on the moisturiser. Just because skin is oily, it still needs moisture and hydration. The tip is to pick an oil-free formula such as CLEAN & CLEAR® Essentials Moisturiser ($7.99). Use the SPF 15 version for day and the standard moisturiser for night.
