To celebrate the launch of the just-released Estée Lauder Sensuous Rouge Lip Colour, we asked the brand's Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux — who's been busy creating looks at New York Fashion Week for The Row, Derek Lam, Doo.ri and Altuzarra — what kind of woman wears lipstick, why this one is extra special and his top tips for application.

Keep reading . . .What do you love most about it? I love that it’s almost like wearing a matte lipstick on the contours of the lips and a very creamy lipstick in the centre, so it creates a very sensual look to the lips. The centre of your lips will appear moist, yet the colour won’t run, and the strong shell of the lipstick is going help contour and provide the best shape to the lips.
Sounds sexy. So what kind of woman wears lipstick? It’s usually very powerful women who are sophisticated and polished that wear lipstick. The lip gloss is for more of a playful woman who looks like she wants to be kissed.
Can you share your top tips for applying lipstick with us? It depends on the look you want to create. If you want to achieve a more subtle look with just a touch of lipstick, you should apply it with your finger and tap the colour around your lips to make the colour more transparent. When you want to create more of a statement lip, you should use a lip pencil in addition to the lipstick to reach perfection.
