This Vintage Video of Elizabeth Taylor Doing Her Makeup Is Enchanting

As an uncontested icon of the silver screen, Elizabeth Taylor was never one to skew toward subtlety — especially when it came to her makeup. Her bold eye makeup in Cleopatra has since been lauded as a major beauty moment, and her affinity for makeup never waned. A recently resurfaced clip from the 1974 film The Driver's Seat, however, serves as further evidence that she was always ahead of the curve.

In the clip, Elizabeth is seen confidently applying navy-grey eye makeup, resulting in a smokey eye look. She then uses the small eye shadow brush to also apply eyeliner on her lower lash line.
