This brand was on our one-to-watch list, so it was nice to see something we liked backstage. Darren Borthwick was directing the hair for Aveda and wanted something "asymetrical . . . [that was a] modern version of an '80s or '90s style." Because of the detailing and bold collars in the collection, a down 'do just wouldn't, well, do. Lucky really as Darren is totes over the straight, centre-parting style that's been around forev-er. Instead, he used Aveda Volumising Tonic, Hair Potion and the newbie, Control Force Spray, to create the style that was slick and sharp on one side and twisted into a faux bob on the other. Watch Darren doing his thang below . . .

Psst. We also caught up with OPI's Karon Mackrendrick-Taylor who re-emphasised the minimalist vibe so that the clothes could be the centre of attention. The models nails (fingers only, toes were bare because of the closed-in shoe) were painted a "soft and romantic" peach-based colour called Statton Island Cotton Candy.
