I entered the hotel room that was set up for my treatment, I'd been rushing from work (standard), a little flustered (as always), and had done very little research about what was just about to happen. I (of course) also had to rush off quickly after my treatment — I was going to see Selena Gomez in concert, priorities.

I was there to see Katherine Millar-Shannon, a Cosmetic Nurse Practitioner and owner of Duquessa in Melbourne — a clinic that specialises in IV drips for their beauty benefits. She talked me through the process and advised me I was going to have the vitamin C-infused drip, which is great for skin radiance.

I hopped up onto the treatment bed — comfy and a bit skinny, just like a facial bed — and got prepped for my VitaLite treatment. On top of my intravenous ingredients I was getting Omnilux light therapy on my face at the same time. As the drip was being administered, I was told I should be done in 45 minutes (leaving plenty of time to catch Selena strut her stuff on stage!). Just like an injection I had to pump up my vein for the drip to be attached inside the inner crease of my elbow — it's not the greatest if you're not into needles, but I just looked away and it was completely fine, not painful at all.

As the treatment started, the fluid felt a little cold going into my arm, but Katherine gave me a hot water bottle to rest my arm on and keep it really snug. I was lying down, head on a pillow and super comfortable, as the light was brought over my face for the Omnilux. Heaven.

The 45 minutes went by really fast, I was so relaxed and comfortable there. The drip bag was now all empty and the light had done its magic. As I was unhooked and checked on, I was told I was going to get thirsty that night and I needed to take an apple for the road — for blood sugar levels. But, honestly, I felt great!

After just a few minutes I felt more energised, my face was glowing, and I was oh-so-ready to dance to "Hands to Myself"! For the next week I simply glowed, I can't say for certain that it wasn't just a post-Gomez glow, but my skin really looked luminous.

Being the skin nerd that I am, I wasn't just satisfied with my results, so I went back to Katherine to get the lowdown on the science behind the treatment.
