Why You Should Consider Swapping Your In-Shower Scrub for a Gentle Full-Body Cleanser
We're well into Winter here in Australia and by now, it may be starting to take a toll on your skin. Dehydrated, flaky and sensitive skin can be caused by a number of factors like hot showers, tight jeans and dramatic temperature changes but a less obvious cause, is in-shower body scrubs.
While we love a good body scrub, once the temperature drops they can be a little too harsh for our skin. They're often made with granular ingredients like sugars and coffee grinds, that help to physically scrub away the dead skin cells — which can be a good thing, don't get me wrong — but if your skin is already sensitive, a scrub can start to irritate and damage it's barrier.
Enter its gentler friend, full body cleansers. These glow-getters are loaded with ingredients like salicylic, glycolic and lactic acids that help to exfoliate and improve skins overall tone and texture, leaving your skin feeling just as soft and smooth as your go-to scrub would, sans the psychical scrubbing.
They're also great for fighting body acne! The AHAs and BHAs along with ingredients like tea tree help to sooth and minimise any body breakouts. Note: even if you swap out your scrub for a cleanser, you'll still need to apply a rich body moisturiser post-shower to lock in some much-needed hydration.
