Three words: David Beckham‘s hair. Sure, the 48-year-old has cultivated an impressive football career, but off the pitch, there’s no doubt that Beckham’s legacy is his career in hairstyles. Since 1993, he’s earned the accolade of having the most famous coiffure in football – and we’ve all witnessed (or even copied) a David Beckham hair evolution.

It’s not surprising then, that in the trailer of new Netflix documentary “Beckham”, we see just as many iconic mane-moments as we do goals. Set to air on 4 October, and produced by the footballer’s own company Studio 99, the four-part series will fast-track you back to the ’90’s with his legendary looks, such as the Mohawk and Hoxton Fin.

As the son of a hairdresser mum and a father-of-four himself, the 48-year-old has reminisced on his barber-shop moments in recent years and claims he has only one regrettable look: his cornrows, coined The Mandela, after wearing them to South Africa to meet Nelson Mandela. Now, he’s watching his kids copy his old-school looks, with 20-year-old Romeo sporting his infamous buzzcuts.

It’s been an evolution that’s been backed and supported by wife Victoria Beckham, as the duo not only shared hairdresser Ben Cooke between 1999 and 2006, but they began morphing into each other with copycat haircuts and matching outfits after their engagement in 1998.

On top of a number of hair hits and misses, there’s also been rumours of a hair transplant, hair arguments with football manager Sir Alex Furguson, and a boomerang look Becks is still doing today. Keep scrolling to look back at David Beckham’s hair evolution.
