“It Was Love at First Sniff”: 9 Beauty Finds the POPSUGAR Australia Team Are Loving to Death

beauty products november

Silly season is finally upon us! As we leave spring behind and finally step into Australia’s hot summer days, the weather isn’t the only thing changing — our beauty looks and skincare routines are, too. So, welcome to our team’s beauty picks for November 2023. Here, you’ll find everything you need to seamlessly transition into the warmer seasons.

The hotter weather and shining sun means investing into higher SPF coverage, wearing less makeup but still keeping things glam, and fresh, light fragrances. Well thankfully we’ve got it all. Ahead, you’ll find an lip oil that will battle Dior’s, blushes to suit any look and skincare that will see you through summer.

Let’s get into the beauty picks!

Cancer Council Lip Balm SPF 50+ - Editors Beauty Picks November
Cancer Council Vanila Lip Balm SPF 50+ ($8.95)

Lip balm is an easily overlooked step in most people’s skincare routine, but I’ve been incorporating this is in without a thought each day. Why? Because it’s hydrating, protective and smells absolutely delicious. The tube is small enough to slip into slimline shoulder bags or large totes without losing it amongst other handbag items, which makes it great for reapplication when I’m on the move to client meetings or out and about.

Makeup by Mario Soft Pop Blush - Editors Beauty Picks November
Sephora/Makeup by Mario Soft Pop Blush Stick ($50)

I jumped on the Makeup by Mario bandwagon recently and I’ve been obsessed with these blush sticks. The cream blush has such great pigment and blends so well on my skin, giving me that pop of colour on my cheeks. The colours look intimidating but once you brush it on your skin it leaves such a beautiful shade. And I love, love, love how the stick comes with its very own brush!

Urban Decay 247 Moondust Shadow - Editors Beauty Picks November
MECCA/Urban Decay 24/7 Moondust Eyeshadow

Let me introduce you to the only eyeshadow you need this holiday season (and beyond) — Urban Decay’s 24/7 Moondust Eyeshadow in “Space Cowboy”. I’ll admit, I tried out dupes before snatching it up at Mecca, but nothing compares to the real thing. It’s the perfect champagne shade, its ‘wet look’ on the eyes and the way it hits the light is like no other eyeshadow I’ve used before. I like how you can use it either all over the lid for a wash of colour and sparkle, or in the inner corner to open up and brighten your eyes!

Embodiment Blush - Gemma
Holme Beauty Embodiment Blush ($55)

I have never been a blush girl — I didn’t think it worked with my tan skin. But ever since I tried this liquid blush a couple months ago, I’ve been using it nearly every time I wear makeup. I put just one dab on either of my cheeks and blend with a brush or, if I don’t have one handy, my finger. I feel more feminine when I’m wearing it.

24 hour brow setter benefit cosmetics
Sephora/Benefit Cosmetics 24-Hr Brow Setter Invisible Brow Gel ($48)

I got my brows laminated for the first time recently, and I’ve been using this to brush them into shape. I brush them upwards first and then tame the hairs at the top to the side slightly so they aren’t too dramatic. Though the gel does make them stay in the direction I’ve combed them in, it doesn’t leave them crunchy like some other brow gels can.

Aerre Fragrances Joshua Tree - santal 33 le labo dupe
Aerre Fragrances Joshua Tree ($49)

I might not know how to pronounce Àerre, but I can promise you that since I unboxed these fragrances, I’ve been absolutely obsessed. From the luxe packaging to the accuracy of the scents, I’m one lucky gal for receiving these to trial. It’s not often that I fall in love with perfumes so quickly — I’m a firm believer in signature scents! — but a few spritz of the Joshua Tree EDP and it was love at first sniff.

It smells wildly similar to its inspiration scent Le Labo Santal 33. The musky matcha notes are perfect, and I don’t feel guilty about spraying this bottle of Joshua Tree liberally.

And look, this might seem like a silly element to call out as a “favourite feature”, but the quality of the bottle — a magnetic closure with a sleek and unassuming label — is far better than some $150+ perfumes I’ve tried. I’m so entranced by it that I’ve already recommended the brand to everyone who’s complimented it!

Revlon-Kiss-Glow-Lip-Oil-Dior-Lip-Glow-Oil-Dupe
Revlon Kiss Glow Lip Oil ($11.99)

This lip oil has quickly become part of my handbag staples. I only received it a few weeks ago and I’m already using it every chance I get. Going to the gym? Bring the lip oil. Heading out for errands? Throw it in my crossbody bag. Working from home? Let’s throw a coat of Glow Lip Oil on.

It doesn’t feel sticky or heavy on the lips like some products. Instead, it’s hydrating and thin enough to not get in your way. I’ve been going through my the Bouncy Beige colour and loving it. Even better, the formula leaves a subtle colour that lasts for hours at a time.

Torriden Dive-In Serum - Editors Beauty Favourites November 2023
YESSTYLE/Torriden Dive-In Low Molecule Hyaluronic Acid Serum ($40)

I’ve been using this serum for the past three weeks, and I love how lightweight but hydrating it is! I’ve noticed a visible plumpness to my skin the morning after using it, but it never makes my skin feel oily or sticky, which I love.

Innisfree Green Tea Seed Hyaluronic Serum - Editors Beauty Picks November 2023
Innisfree Green Tea Seed Hyaluronic Cream ($43)

I find myself repurchasing this moisturiser again and again. It’s so refreshing and nourishing without being too thick, perfect throughout all the seasons. It literally feels like a giant glass of water for your face! Recently my skin reacted to something and I got a rash, so I pulled back my skincare products to ONLY this moisturiser and the rash went away in 2 days. I feel like I can rely on it, and it’s really all my skin needs.
