Fragrances are a special part of the beauty world. Everything about fragrances is intoxicating and special — from the scents themselves to the luxe packaging. And, for those who love perfumes, it’s not uncommon to spend time trying to find your favourite smell.

Some people even have a signature scent that they wear day in, day out and that becomes intrinsically linked with them, while others prefer to dabble in a number of different aromas. Whatever you prefer, there is usually one scent that you favour. We asked the POPSUGAR Australia team to reveal their favourite fragrances and the list is pretty iconic.

Valentina, Managing Editor: Yves Saint Laurent Libre Eau De Parfum ($248 for 90ml)

I first went to Myer to give this a sniff after seeing ads with Dua Lipa in 2019 (marketing works), fell in love and have been wearing it ever since. It’s a floral perfume but I like that it doesn’t smell overly sweet, it’s toned down with citrus and musk. I’m so committed to it now that I even wore it on my wedding and always get compliments when I have it on.

Amanda, Publisher: Byredo La Tulipe EDP ($320 for 100ml)

I bought it to wear on summer holidays so whenever I spritz it now I am transported back to relaxing days on the beach. I normally don’t like floral scents but this is very light and fresh.

Sangeeta, Lifestyle Editor: Roemy Solstice ($179)

I recently got Solstice by Roemy and I’m loving it. It’s light and floral, and the bottle, which has a simple black and white label, looks great displayed on my beauty shelf.

Basmah, Entertainment Producer: Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 EDP ($368 for 70ml)

It’s SO expensive and I cry every time I spray it but it’s so worth it. It has the most unique scent and every time I wear it I get a million compliments.

Lyndsey, Entertainment Editor: Le Labo Santal 33 ($406 for 100ml) + Thé Noir 29 ($406 for 100 ml)

I love Le Labo’s Santal 33 but also its Thé Noir 29! I love these scents so much as they just take me right back to warm summer nights in NYC, running around the city drinking cocktails, trying new restaurants and just being ready for any adventure.

MECCA

Angela, Commerical Content and Shopping Editor: Malin + Goetz Cannabis Perfume Oil ($46 for 9ml)

This one is compact and great for travel (when we can), but it’s also kind of spicy and masculine, so I always feel really strong when I wear it. It’s also teeny tiny but I’ve had my last one for the past year.

Alexandra, Beauty & Wellness Editor: Diptyque Orphéon EDP ($231 for 75ml)

I love to swap the fragrances I use around regularly but I always receive the most compliments when I wear this one by Diptyque. This woody meets floral scent is inspired by Paris in the ’60s and it feels dark and light all at the same time. I love the mature richness of this scent, given my usual favourites are more fresh citrus-based aromas.
